A college degree puts you ahead in life when it comes to getting a good job but it also depends on what you studied in college. However, there is a lot of problem solving and complicated decisions to make which is why universities will require the candidates to meet specific criterias before they can secure an admission to the college to take an engineering degree. Some of the requirements cannot be met in a week or month which means preparations need to start in good time. You cannot jump any steps and you still have to go through high school. Your transcripts should have a record of a 4-year course in mathematics( geometry, algebra, calculus and trigonometry). However, it does not mean that everybody who goes through such a program will automatically get into an engineering school before the grades should be great.
Ensure your grades are great from the time you get into junior high because putting in efforts at your final year is not going to earn you a lot of points. Study for your ACT and SAT because it is these scores the colleges will get when it comes to choosing whether to admit you or not and the course you can take. 0 GPA or something close to it. Even though your high school grades are supposed to be stellar, make sure that you do let other aspects which will be used in determining whether you get a position or not slide. You need to show the colleges your creative side and also eagerness to learn.
Remember that extracurricular activities also count and it will be difficult to get a spot in any college without a record showing your participation even though you have impressive grades. No college wants a student who is a trouble maker which is why you should be careful about what you do in high school because you will need recommendations from your teachers and mentors and if you have been giving the a hard time then this can cost you the admission. Engineering is not just about doing what has been the standard all the time but also making sure the generations which keep joining the colleges can help further research and find better ways to solve the problems in the real world. .
